I did have this problem on my servers. The spiders are only able to do this when a block is loaded (e.g. when a player is nearby). On the server this gave a bit of an incentive to do regular clearouts. The base version of the game (single player-oriented) wanted to make it hard for player to dig the webs, but a number of the weapons should by now have been modified to be particularly effective against webs as I recall... It's been a while, I've forgotten 😅
I could look at adding a parameterisation to turn on web decay. The point though is that these are all demonic spiders, and they would stand to therefore have webs that cause more nightmare over time, befitting the gameplay style.
turn on web decay will be much work.. is better minimize the amount of.. as more simple solution.. for backguard compatibility, i will try to check how and post a PR for..

Everywhere player go, in a few days the map is filled with spider webs. This is really annoying.
Spider webs should disappear after some period of time, for example with a timer initialized to a random duration between 1-2 days.
This would even be more realistic, because in real life webs get dust and decay when they are not maintained by a spider.
