Keeping processes running after you log out
Use nohup or disown if you want a background process to keep running even after you logout.
If you need to check it the process from time to time you can use screen
$ screen
And execute that process inside screen.
You can log in later and check the output of that by re-attaching to that screen session with
screen -x
