This problem seems to have returned with an identical error as reported here. I am running VS Code 1.71.0-insider on Windows 10 with Live Share version 1.0.5695.

This has been an issue since 2021 by the look of things.

Update please, whether a bugfix or elaborating reasons for this occuring

Thanks

Apologize for the delay in fixing this issue, we are working on it. As a workaround if you open a non-notebook file as a host when your guest joins and then switch to (open) notebook file then you won't hit the issue.

A fix has been released in latest Live Share version 1.0.5823. Please let us know if you are still facing the issue.

Can you please provide a scenario when you are seeing this error?

  1. person joins me in live share that i host on a remote server (with the remote ssh extension)
  2. we are looking at a python file with cells in it (#%%)
  3. they try to execute a cell. by default their own kernel starts, but they can switch to liveshare controller, in which case it gives them the error "Co-editing is not supported for notebooks opened with non-shared views"

Can you verify if the guest's Live Share extension is also updated to the latest version?

I'm also getting this error, I can't share the python interactive window with a participant.
