Happy to do this, but I do not know how to edit those side bars, and how to create new pages.

To create new pages, you just need to create a new .md file in _pages/, with a YAML header. See any existing page for an example of the YAML header; it is flanked by --- lines, and the only required fields are title: Whatever and layout: page.

The left side bar is called the menu, and is described here.
