Help NASA find a better way to protect humans from the effects of “Galactic Cosmic Rays” (GCR) when traveling outside the Earth’s protective magnetic field. Although GCRs are of relatively low intensity, these rays can be of very high energy. Long-duration exposure to GCR will exceed allowable career radiation exposure limits for crew members during any meaningful deep space mission. Protection is needed to allow for safe and successful human missions such as going to Mars.
