No matter if I set touchpad and trackball to Enable or Disable it does not work

I'm running skulls 1.0.4 (because of the garbled green artifacts, see #256) on a x230 with Manjaro stable. Touchpad and trackball work. Might be an OS issue.

I can try but I am on arch so that should work

This issue is very old. Also, I've never seen any problem with the input devices. I'll close this and please re-open if you flash a recent release and can reproduce your issue - while making sure the hardware is OK. thank you
