In regard to these 3 commands in the Command palette:
I wasn't sure what the difference between "Encrypt/Decrypt" and "Convert to and from and Encrypted note" was, since they both sound like they do the same thing: encrypting/decrypting a whole note, in contrast with "Encrypt/Decrypt in place" which would work on a selection of text within a not necessarily encrypted note. But then, I picked "Encrypt/Decrypt" from the command palette with a regular note opened and it did exactly what "Encrypt/Decrypt in place" would do: created a partial section at the end of the note (where the cursor happened to be when I used the command) with a lock. It contained nothing because it was at the end of the line, but repeating it on a selected paragraph encrypted just that paragraph. I guess my question is whether I'm missing some context where there would be a different application between "Encrypt/Decrypt" and "Encrypt/Decrypt in place", or whether this is a bug or redundancy. |

Hey @M2-ux, I agree, it's a bit confusing. The difference is when decrypting. Decrypt in place will decrypt back to the note (instead of a dialog box). Decrypting to dialog is useful when you don't want the decrypted text saved back to your note to maybe get picked up by sync or backup software for example. |
