Building lucky_cli on Ubuntu 18.04 (wsl2) fails libevent-2.1.so.7

I'm trying to build lucky_cli to give a first go at Lucky/Crystal, but compiling in Ubuntu 18.04 fails with:

Seems .7 is not available on Ubuntu 18.04. Any suggestions?

I tried symlinking .7 to .6 and it didn't seem to work, end up getting:

To get a headstart, I installed an Ubuntu 20.04 instance, got all the way through the setup to running script/setup and it fails with:

oh, interesting.... You're using asdf... "undefined reference to `SSL_library_init'"... I wonder if that's an error with how that version of Crystal is built. 🤔 Are you able to try installing crystal manually https://crystal-lang.org/install/on_ubuntu/

I'll try again with a manual crystal install.

Yeah, asdf was originally recommended a few years back, but the way it works can cause issues... Maybe time to drop that recommendation?
