I currently use hierarchy up to 7 level deep with different deep length on different levels.
The selection of the visual is set to Hide all empty members, single select if off.
When I select all items on the hierarchy slicer (pic 1)
and after that deselect just level 4 Portugal (pic2) the visual automatically deselects other items which are blank on level 4 (marked in blue on pic4). This situation is not happening when Hide empty member is set to never.
