1. Warmth & Heat
Warmth.regenerating.health.mp4
Metabolism replaces the vanilla food bar with the warmth bar. In place of the meat shanks are the yellow warmth orbs. Warmth orbs can be full, half full, empty or be replaced with heat orbs. As with vanilla food or health, the maximum amount of warmth is 20, each orb representing 2 warmth.
Warmth is used to regenerate health naturally. The regeneration speed depends on how much warmth you have relative to the current health.
Type | Condition | Rate |
---|---|---|
Fast Regeneration | warmth > health | 1 warmth -> 1 health every 0.5s |
Slow Regeneration | warmth < health | 1 warmth -> 1 health every 4s |
- Some environment effects give warmth.
- Metabolization - consume food and hydration to produce warmth.
- Drinking water is an easy way to gain hydration, but it will make you lose warmth.
In Metabolism, heat and warmth are distinct variables. The value of heat ranges from -20 to +20.
Heat is shown in the warmth bar as red or blue heat orbs.
The bar above shows having 8 heat, reducing base warmth to 12.
Being hot will cause hydration to drop.
The bar above shows having -13 heat, reducing base warmth to 7.
Being cold will cause food to drop.
- When heat takes up part of the warmth bar, it is harder to regenerate health quickly.
- Eat foods that give a strong metabolism effect to temporarily regain warmth above the base level.
- Warmth-giving environment effects, such as campfires, are capped at the base warmth level, unlike food.
- Heat will converge towards the heat target set by various environment effects being applied.
- This is not instantaneous; it takes 50 seconds to reach 90% of the heat target.
- If no effects are being applied, heat will slowly go back to 0 - the default heat target.
- Drain is calculated every 2s.
- Having heat will cause either food or hydration to be drained (see above)
- Drain amount = 0.04 * |heat|
- The heat drain indicator of the gui shows which resource is being drained, and the drain speed.
- Damage is calculated at the same rate as drain.
- The maximum amount of damage dealt by heat follows the rules of vanilla Minecraft. On easy mode, it stops at 10 hearts. On normal mode, 1 hearts. On hard mode, this can cause death.
- 1 Fire or Freeze damage is dealt when the warmth bar is full of heat orbs.
- 1 starvation damage is dealt when there is no resource available to drain.
- The opposite resource is also drained by 1.
- Heat will not converge and instead rise continuously, eventually filling up the warmth bar, causing heat damage.
