Android: consistently shows searching for game overlay even after game start

What happened?

After starting a quick pairing queue the searching for game will remain active even after I see a board appear behind it. I can to click cancel searching to make the board accessible. Also sometimes it never connects and shows the board, but it must be connected behind the scene because I keep getting timeout from dropping games.

How can we reproduce the bug?

Pixel 6, android version, up to date
Open lichess, click 2+1 time setting quick play
Searching for game pops up
Now, either after 5-10 seconds a board will appear underneath the search for game window, but the searching will remain on top until the board times out.
Or 2 , it will never appear to find a game, but I've been timed out following it (right now 1 day even though I played every game I could connect to!) so I suspect behind the scenes it's connecting

I am having this same issue: Samsung galaxy s25.

What's also interesting is that in the background it will actually join games, and if I let the search run long enough it will abort those games sequentially and ban me for several hours for aborting too often lol.

+1. Facing the same issue. Even you click cancel and continue playing apparently the cancels are counted and it times you out (preventing from playing new games) for 20mins.
