Read only database alerts

Would be nice to receive an alert if the database is found read only.

Not sure what caused it but I found it wasn't updating for the last 4 days, a quick 'fix permissions' caused it to work.

This happened once before, thinking maybe the updates?

I'll report a bug when I see it next and can tie it down, but in the meantime would be very useful to have an alert if it wasn't properly working.

Since I have not yet experienced this error and cannot reproduce it, you are welcome to test this extended pialert.py version. Commit

This file must be saved in the directory $HOME/pialert/back/. Make a backup of the old version first.

Getting this as well fresh install. In my case its a fresh debian 12 VM. Going to guess this is it going to be one of those installations that gets you to far off of "center", recommended target of of a raspberry.

I can add that if I keep changing and item, and save it will eventually work without error.

I also use VMs for testing, so these also belong in the usage spectrum 😉 You have to distinguish between 2 types here.

1. if no edits are made in the frontend and yet no more changes can be written to the database.

2. when saving edited entries, this message appears from time to time. After a short waiting time it works.

The 1st case is an error that can also vary in details. The 2nd case is a consequence of the fact that the database can only be edited by one user. If a scan is currently writing to the database, the front end can no longer do so.
