Describe your suggested feature

There’s this really helpful feature in J2K/Yokai where the download button is hidden for already-read chapters in the "UPDATES UI", which keeps the interface nice and clean. Rather than having the download button on every chapter, it only shows up for the chapters that haven’t been read yet. This makes it way easier to navigate through the Updates section and keeps things looking streamlined.

It’s one of those small but significant features that add up to the UX the more chapters you have, and I’ve definitely missed it in Komikku. Thanks for all the great work you’re doing, and I look forward to seeing this feature in the app! :)

beside from showing downloaded state, it also allows people to download the chapter he likes even after read it. I guess it's better that way.

By default this is good for most people, but for the rest who'd prefer a cleaner at a glance Updates UI, it'd be great if there could be an optional toggle in the settings to enable this feature.

If I really wish to download a read chapter, it can always be done Library anyways.

Here I can see at a glance that I've read everything since there's no download buttons in the Updates section.

Whereas here I've to look if everything is greyed out or not, which while not a big deal, is not as glancable or cleaner as above.

I really hope this feature is considered for implementation as an extra option. Thanks!!

I disagree with this issue. From the library and entry screen is only possible to mass download unread chapters, and for the read ones you gotta manually download chaps, and with this implementation the situation will only get worse, and so you gotta mark the chapters/Manga as unread first and then download. Probabily J2K dev and you are readers reading on the fly and one time and no need to download, but an important chunk of others do, and almost never even look at the Updates page.
Those arrows aren't that annoying, and we are here discussing whether to sacrifice a QoL over a graphical "annoyance" where the app can have other improvements elsewhere.

I'm NOT proposing to change anything in the Library or the manga entry screen. That's totally fine and should work as it is for bulk downloads. It doesn't make sense to hide the download button there, and as you said, it'd only make the situation worse.

I too download in bulk and can do that from the Library page. This change is only proposed for the Updates page and that too as an OPTIONAL toggle so the "on-the-fly" reading as new chapters come gets easier.

Again, I wouldn't call it an annoyance but a minor QoL improvement which which I like about J2K.

Nothing would change for most of the users and yes, other improvements which make a bigger impact should be prioritized. All I'm asking is it that it gets considered for future updates.

Hope that clears things up!

Edit: I saw that I only mentioned that this is only for the "Updates UI" in the comments, so my bad. Updated the title to better reflect the suggestion.
