Preferably through a screen covering VC that can be dismissed with a done button in the corner. Or something similar, but not just an alert.

Maybe use MWFeedParser and display a new item (if available) in a modally displayed WKWebView.

updating via a timer every five minutes (still loving SwiftyTimer) and
using MWFeedParser to read the RSS feed at parkendd.tumblr.com. This'll
be used to display updates to the user should anything change or be
sent out.

What about how 1Password does it? An extra view for stuff that's new an alert when something new is added to that.

Because I really suck at keeping half finished features out
of the master branch.
Not sure if though if this'll ever need to make it into the app,
so it's kicked for now.

Would probably make much more sense to actually send push notifications with a short message. I remember wanting to use these notifications here for downtime info, but that's probably not necessary. Notifications on new supported cities are probably much more sensible.
