It's been a while since Goofys latest release in 2020. We really appreciate the effort of the maintainers who create and maintain this great application for us. While we can see many users are asking for new features (#671, #686) and bug fixes (#664, #522) every now and then, we still we've heard any plan from the maintainers for quite some time.

I open this issue to propose that now might be a good time for releasing the next version of Goofys and it should aim to bring Goofys back in a good state. We would like to know if there are anything we can help in order to continue to support this library.

Me and my colleagues have done some planning work about the changes that are already in since the last version and what are the remaining works we should do before releasing a new version in this wiki Goofys-Release-Plan-v0.25.0. It's also open for edit and we can discuss about any suggestions for this plan here.

@kahing would you mind taking a look at this plan?

I think the end of October is a reasonable time to release a new version as it should give us enough time for reviewing and adding necessary changes to the open PRs, and given we have security vulnerabilities flagged for the current Goofys release in #714, it would be good to address this issue as soon as possible.

I would like to know your thought on the plan and if there are anything else I can help to get it ready by this timeline.

Seems like this project is still active as there are recent commits. Any plans to get this release out?

In particular, I'm hoping #522 will be fixed. Looks like there in an open PR at #672

...is this project still active? It's now January 2024, the most recent release was almost 4 years ago and the most recent commit of any sort was 7 months ago.
