No sound for remuxed and transcoded files since latest webOS update #262
Comments
Make sure that If that doesn't help, please post the Ffmpeg logs. |
Hi, I enabled and disabled it now I have a picture but no sound if remuxing.

DTS is probably not supported (well) in TS. Since we don't add it to TS audio codecs, you seem to have |

Since when is DTS not supported anymore? It was the only codec that could give me proper 5.1 sound in the past. I setted it up the way you said and with aac I receive only stereo on my Denon AVR x1800h over eARC. And what does TS mean? |
It is supported when DirectPlay. But Dolby Vision requires MKV to be remuxed into HLS-TS, which doesn't seem to support DTS (no sound when audio transcoding is disabled). Not sure why it doesn't detect 5.1 In 10.10, you can try selecting preferred audio codec (if AAC 5.1 doesn't work). You can also manually (pre-)remux MKV to MP4 if you strictly need DTS. |
Ah ok. Thank you for those information. It seems as would webos send no codec information at all so it falls back to stereo. I have/had the same issue with some Dolby digital codecs in 4k movies, that Jellyfin web os is not able to playback it properly. The same file worked fine with a fire TV stick 4k. |
I couldn't find any functional codec. So Jellyfin for webOS ist broken for me for every transcoding or remuxing file. Only direct play works but on some files I am not able to skip /scrub. I noticed that every video playback app like netflix, Disney+ and prime video (Plex as well) updated shortly after the webOS update. |
I experimented with different settings and can confirm that any audio transcoding (even just channels number) causing issues. Only direct play works fine. |
I am also experiencing issues with no audio in some files. I have an LG C9 (OLED55C9PLA). For the sake of +1'ing this conversation. Here are my logs. Video:

We don't recommend using fMP4 on webOS. Try disabling it. |
Within the client settings the "prefer fMP4" checkbox is unchecked. |

Thanks for the quick replies! I restarted the server, checked/unchecked the "prefer fMP4" checkox but it still stays enabled according to the log. When looking at the playback info of the video it states:
I guess I am looking at a different bug? Let me know if you rather want me to make a new bug report for it. |
If it is DirectPlay, there is no Ffmpeg log. Are you sure the Ffmpeg log you posted is from the same playback session (from webOS session)? |
I just deleted all the logs and restarted Jellyfin. Now the behaviour is even more strange. I am going to open a separate bug issue for this as I don't want to hijack this thread: #274 |
Hello since the latest webos update I am not able to playback any kind of transcoded or remuxed files. I can see the transcoding working successfully in the logs, but the the preview picture won't change and the circle goes round and round forever. I am nit able to control the app anymore and I have to force the closure of the app
