Bug Description

I've found that while viewing various titles in my library, I cannot seek (fast-forward/rewind). I've observed this happening in the following conditions:

  • HEVC video in an MKV container with E-AC3 Audio (audio transcoded)
  • HEVC video in an MKV container with E-AC3 Audio (audio transcoded)
  • HEVC video in an MKV container with FLAC Audio (audio not transcoded)

In all cases, the video was not transcoded.

I have not observed this issue with hs264 video with FLAC Audio (audio not transcoded).

Is this expected behavior for HEVC video?

Steps to Reproduce

Play media with HEVC video in an MKV container with E-AC3, AAC, or FLAC audio.

Expected Behavior

I would expect to be able to use the remote to seek.

Logs

If someone would let me know how to retrieve the logs, I will.

Culprit has been found! Each of my user profiles had “Allow video playback that requires conversion without re-encoding” unchecked ✨somehow✨. Checking that box for my user profile resolved the issue.

No clue how that setting got changed without my doing. Perhaps that warrants creating a new issue. If we want to investigate further within this issue, feel free to reopen.
