"Already Checked Out"-Indicator (More of a discussion/question)

Isn't the UI supposed to indicate which songs where already listened to / checked out ?
-Since now I seem to still struggle specifically finding new releases. Hence checking out -say- all songs from December and then checking December for new releases 2 weeks later will, show new releases in that month; which is the exact issue that the Spotify UI is creating...?
Am I getting smth wrong here ?
