Errors out with tcl/tk 9 #5

With tcl/tk 9.0 as found in fedora rawhide gitk errors out on the
catch {package require Tk 8.4} err exception.

Removing the check, it starts but shows some errors with something about encoding immediately.

Is it supposed to work with 9.0 ?

The plan is, of course, to have Gitk work regardless of the Tcl/Tk version. If it doesn't work with 9.0, please make it work, but in a way that doesn't break with other versions.

That's probably beyond me. For now Fedora still packages tcl/tk 8 so there is some time for someone to get to it..
