New software name #41
Comments
few suggestions SnapUp (Snapshot + Backup) |
Suggestion: Pictup |
Not bad suggestions so far but I start to think the name should be something unrelated to "backup" as the tool changed its way from backing up to organising photos. Also originally the tool was mean to be used for photos only, but now you can use it for video too. |
Another suggestion: snapsort |
I would suggest Pictosort |
How about "Pixort"? In my opinion, it's easier and faster to pronounce (less syllables), has a bit of uniqueness about it, and the main idea of sorting pictures is there too. Or even "PMST" for "Phockup Media Sorting Tool" (I was thinking of the naming scheme for PHP - namely it being a recursive acronym for PHP Hypertext Preprocessor). I'm not so sure about this one, but at least the brand Phockup is still in the name (basically, the project's beginnings) and the "media" could refer to pictures and videos. Hope this helps. |
I like the name PicturePerfect. This method of organizing media is what digikam, shotwell and others are missing! Truly is perfect :-) |
Prockup. Only one letter changed. |
phocopy |
The name of the software is coming from the combination of the words "photos" and "backup" as this was the main idea behind Phockup but as you pronounce it you get quite mixed feeling about what it does. Initially the software was made for my own usage and I though a funny name won't do any harm, but since we got an article in OMG Ubuntu I think we need a new name. Something that is not age restricted :)
Please give your suggestion for a new name of the software.
PS: I am planing to create a GUI for easier usage and I think the rename of the software will be done when the GUI is completed (version 2).
