This update comes with improved PDF rendering and fixes student progress calculations: Since the last editor, progress values were not properly initialized when reloading a lesson after having already worked on it due to the user data not being available when attempting to recalculate the progress.

Multiple model outputs and test printouts now include the number of missing observations that were removed before the results could be calculated.

This update adds the Tukey HSD test and extended output for the chi-square independence test.

In addition, it resolves the following issues:

• Variables generated from the binning tool were not properly removed upon deletion from the list of available qualitative variables, causing select boxes in the data explorer toolbox to still list them.
• Restoration of outputs in data explorers upon reload has been improved.
• Under rare conditions, the notification system didn't properly mount, causing e.g. the "Lesson Submit" notifications prompting for a download of a lesson's answers in PDF format to not show up. This is now prevented.
• When editing plot titles of e.g. bar charts for factor variables (categorical variables with ordered categories), it was possible that multiple labels were changed at once.
• In the last release, a regression in the <Quiz /> component caused timed quizzes (i.e., when the duration property was set) to not work anymore, and the response visualizer for multiple choice questions to not display answers.

This release comes with a fix for a bug causing component identifiers to be re-generated: Instead of generating them at runtime, they are now baked in while uploading the lesson.

In addition, the release updates the internal logging of actions in preparation of the rollout of our new assessment system, which allows for fine-grained control of tracker user progress.

PDF rendering has been improved through an update of the underlying library, and several other minor bugs have been resolved (multiple dollar signs in plot labels are not interpreted as LaTeX anymore, answer formats for various question components are improved, ...)

Custom colors can now be chosen for pie charts and bar charts, and an ability to flip coordinates for violin plots has been added.

• inactive lessons now display a button for instructors with which they can be made instantly available

This patch release fixes several bugs and includes various improvements:

• The category labels of bar charts in the response visualizer are again correctly displayed.
• The <QuestionForm /> component now works even when questions are not direct descendents but e.g. nested inside a <Slider /> or <Pages /> component.
• Automatically generated <Revealer /> IDs won't go out of sync depending on initial reveal status.
• Both solutions and user answers for "Choose all that apply" questions are displayed correctly in the instructor panel's "Responses".
• The page now scrolls to anchors when a lesson is initially loaded.

This patch release comes with logging for additional actions in the lesson context menu and calculator / text editor / sketchpad components and fixes a variety of bugs. E.g., logging out now properly invalidates SSO sessions, fallback fonts are specified should loading from Google Fonts be disabled (e.g. via a third-party browser extension), and instructors now see the select menu for reports in the text editor when using the cohort mode. Last but not least, additional years of speeches have been added to the SOTU widget.

v0.76.12 (2022-02-02)

This release comes with several performance improvements for lessons (avoiding repositioning of elements when opening/closing modal windows, handling of large numbers of categories for barcharts etc. without freezing the page), which should help reduce responsiveness issues. Bundling times should have also been slightly decreased. A new <FileQuestion /> component has been added, which can be used to have students submit files inside a lesson as their answer (e.g. PowerPoint presentations, written reports, etc.)

Last but not least, the editor has been updated to appropriately handle resources that are behind a SSO authentication barrier. Trying to load such resources will prompt one to authenticate before they may be accessed.

This patch release fixes an issue that caused rendering of PDFs inside the sketchpad component to fail, refactors the login / signup process for the case when Single Sign-On (SSO) is enabled on the respective ISLE server, and improves the handling of applying text filters in the data explorer when creating a filtered dataset.

This patch release solves a bug that caused variable transformations to not be restored inside of a data explorer upon reloading a lesson. This release comes with various enhancements and bug fixes while improving the usability of the random number generator tools in the data explorer (under Transform -> Generate Random Data).

It is now possible to generate multiple columns of random variates via the : operator to delineate a range. For example,

will create five new columns called Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, and Z5 with draws from the respective t distribution to the data table. The formula transformation tool also allows one to use such ranges, making it easy for example to calculate the row sums of Z1 to Z5 via sum( datum.Z1:datum.Z5 ).

Under Help -> Release Notes, one can now retrieve release notes documenting the changes that are introduced with a new editor release. In addition, the release comes with a new checkbox on the export page to indicate whether uploaded lessons should support offline access (previously enabled by default). One might want to uncheck this option when one expects to (repeatedly) change the lesson after users have already accessed it.

This update also comes with the following improvements:

• better feedback display for the <SelectQuestionMatrix />
• ability to customize the display of p-value labels for the <LearnMeanTest /> and <LearnProportionTest /> components

Most importantly, it comes with a fix for a severe performance regression causing freezes due to infinite re-renders of the toolbar component, which occurred when customizing the toolbar via the preamble. Please update the editor as soon as possible in case you have been running into this issue.

This update comes with small performance improvements, a new loading screen for the editor, and refactored survey components. The survey components (FreeTextSurvey, NumberSurvey, MultipleChoiceSurvey, and ProportionsSurvey) now come with a pause button that allows instructors to control whether students are able to submit answers.

In addition, the release comes with the following changes:

• Fixes installation of packages from npm in editor on Windows
• Remove gates from survey components, i.e. make them visible by default also for not logged-in users
• Ensures maximum observation is correctly displayed in a quantile-quantile plot
• For the Sketchpad, the right-click copy button is not displayed on tablets anymore; on other devices, it correctly closes when left-clicking outside the context menu
• In the Sketchpad, input buttons for the brush and font sizes have been replaced by dropdown menus to improve the experience on tablets and other touch devices.

This release contains several performance improvements for the data explorer, especially when used with large datasets, and fixes a bunch of bugs. Solved issues include identifiers for revealer components not being persistent, the residuals vs. fitted values plot of linear regression, handling of empty data in a custom data explorer, and translations not being loaded correctly or being missing.

The new <Language /> tag allows one to include several translations of a lesson. The currently selected language will determine which translations are shown.

Lastly, the release comes with several improvements and fixes for the new text document history view.

This release contains a refactored text editor component, which saves documents in the cloud, alongside a document history tab for the editor, which allows one to retrace the origin of the document (see screenshot below).

The new release also comes with a redesigned and fleshed out system for leaving persistent sticky notes when right-clicking inside a lesson. Last but not least, lessons now contain a short guide giving an overview of the various interface elements, which can be triggered by clicking on the respective button in the lower-right corner of a lesson.

Currently, the history log is disabled by default. Setting the history attribute of the data explorer will enable it. Alongside this change, all plots, models, and tests can now be independently consumed as their own components aside from the data explorer.

The release also fixes a bug which broke progress calculations.

This update fixes a few bugs due to new features in the data explorer: the binning transformer tool, as well as correct handling of ordered categories in boxplots and tables. The new editor version also comes with features to make filing bug reports and feature requests easier.
