mysterious speedgrader error

After upgrading from canvas-lms release/2024-11-20 to release/2024-12-04 we discovered that the speedgrader fails to load with an error message on screen "Sorry, Something Broke". This happens very quickly. There is no spinner where that would normally when react loads the view for the student.

There are no javascript errors in the browser console log and there are no corresponding entries in the error_reports table.

Rolling back to the previously working docker image and database snapshot now still fails in the same manner and using the db:migrate to roll back a database does not work correctly and deletes necessary tables.

Any help on how to debug and resolve this will be much appreciated. Thank you.
