Why is my client not typed correctly?

Here is how I am importing and creating my client

import type { AppType } from '@repo/api/src/app';
const client = hc<AppType>(origin + '/api', { fetch });

But the client is typed as any, here is how it's created on the backend

const app = createApp()
  .route("/api/v1/auth", auth)
  .route("/api/v1/users", users)
  .route("/api/v1/collections", collections);

And those routes are defined like this

const router = createRouter()
  .openapi(routes.signIn, handlers.signIn)
  .openapi(routes.register, handlers.register)
  .openapi(routes.signOut, handlers.signOut)
  .openapi(routes.me, handlers.me)
  .openapi(routes.requestPasswordReset, handlers.requestPasswordReset)
  .openapi(routes.resetPassword, handlers.resetPassword);

Is it the openapi? weirdly it does work on the backend if I just define the client there with the same generic
