Would it be possible to add JEI integration for crafting, like with a regular crafting table?

I'm not sure what you mean... all the recipes appear in JEI already, no?

With a crafting table, you have JEI populate the table with the necessary ingredients to craft. The screenshots should explain it better:

Using the Crafting Browser with JEI, I searched for hay

In JEI I click on the hay to see the recipe but am unable to add the items to the crafting grid as shown.

I just setup a crafting browser to test out the JEI integration and shift click STILL doesn't work :(
This sure would be handy if we could shift click recipe's and they actually worked as it would be the missing feature to make this a full crafting solution. Until then it's all manual and kinda painful.

Here's another example, plenty of planks in the inventory, in the crafting browser I search for chest, click on the chest in JEI, try to click the + and it says there are no planks when there really are:
