Using the enter key to start text search works for me on Ubuntu 20.04 (Focal Fossa) with both fbreader-0.12.10dfsg2-4build1 and fbreader-0.99.4. Which version of FBReader and which operating system are you using?
Ok! Im also on Focal Fossa. I installed via apt install yesterday but i dont know which version that corresponds to. Cant get any verison information from the program.
You can see the version you installed by runningapt show fbreader | grep -i version or dpkg --list fbreader in your terminal; I expect it to be v0.12.10.
Starting search by pressing enter when focused on the textbox should work as long as the text you're searching is in the document; try it with a word you know is in the text, if it doesn't work try searching backwards.
