Annotation extension relations have both usage statements - aimed at providing practical advice to curators - and definitions, which are meant to be more logically rigorous. Unfortunately, many usage statements are misleading, for example suggesting that an extension qualifies when relationship between gene product and primary GO term apply (see dependent on).
A standard pattern for these statements could be useful.
Suggested pattern: Relates a fu to a bar. Gloss...
e.g.
regualtes_expression_of: Relates a regulatory process or function to the gene whose expression it regulates. Expression encompasses transcription, regulation and processing involved in maturation.
Does this seems like a reasonable approach?
