In many slavic countries a patronymic is used (which is based on the father's or grandfather's given name). In Bulgaria, for example, this is included between the given- and the surname as an independent part of the name:

Example: 'Христо Ботйов Петков' (with Ботйов as the Father's name).

However, in the present GEDCOM versions, the patronymic cannot be included as a separate part, but only as a GIVN.

In the future, it should be possibile to designate name parts individually:

Example:

or in a more general way, like this:

3 TYPE GIVN
2 NAMEPART Ботйов
3 TYPE FATHERSNAME
2 NAMEPART Петков
3 TYPE SURN
