Directed edges with gml output

Is there any way to get directed edges with gml? I tried using dot output and then converting to gml using a command line utility, but I couldn't get the result to open in yEd, I think because of html in the labels.

The Windows version of graphviz has an option to convert to yworks gml, but the output is undirected. There are other issues as well.
