In agents/app_proto.c you do memset(random_char, 'x', MAX_VAL_SIZE); which is as random as https://xkcd.com/221/. :-)

Then, in agents/redis.c and agents/memcache.c you always do .iov_base = random_char. You should start from a random offset.
