Larger groups are more likely to be a disadvantage than an advantage, both because of the individual requirements, the increase in the amount of coordination and a general decrease in the coherence of the final result.

If you decide to form a larger group, make sure that there is sufficient work for each member while scoping your project and that your team is comfortable organizing the work. For larger teams, it may make sense to appoint someone as a project manager in addition to their other duties.
