Server-side demos for ded server [Feature Request]

Consider this a feature request. Q3SDC back in the day made my Painkeep Arena Server popular as heck. I could take the most recent server demos and play them on a separate demo server in a rotation, and we would gather as spectators and laugh our butts off. I could even replay funny parts since I was the admin.

Thought I found it, but the links were dead. Also, I wouldn't know how to compile. Is there a recent ded server binary with this included somewhere?

No there's not a server with it. It's not in the main code yet due to its unfinished state.

It also likely won't apply correctly on the current codebase.

I see an enhancement label has been added to this post... does this mean it may end up in the server?

My bud and I have spent the last couple hours scouring the Internet to see if this is doable in 2023.

We would LOVE to have this as an enhancement.

We use a dedicated headless server; hopefully doing demo recordings don't require gfx.

I hope it's on someone's to-do list. There's a group of five of us who play on my server. We've built a web page to rate maps, make comments, track statistics, etc. There's a sort of larger "environment" around our q3 gaming now, and being able to add demos to the mix would be a really, really great feature.

Not to mention that my bud and I have been playing q3 since it was released, and all of this is not only for our amusement, but for posterity for the kids. As weird as that may sound. :D

There is no news. You would see activity on the demo front in the repo history if there was. Bumping issues for updates isn't really helpful. I cannot comment on the time-frames specifically for @ec- but as of right now I'm not sure if the aforementioned patch will ever make it to the main project. It was a proof of concept iirc.
