US Core alignment for medications

US Core has a long complicated history around MedicationStatement vs. MedicationRequest. They publish a Medication List Guidance section on the topic.

UDS+ is using MedicationStatement for active meds, which is different than what US Core does. US Core uses MedicationRequest.

If this is an intentional deviation from US Core, it might be useful to explain why. For medications specifically, there is enough complicated history that a specific callout will be useful to avoid confusion. If this is not intentional, then you might consider updating UDS+ to align with US Core for active meds.
