Description
Files with the .xyz extension are most commonly ASCII (plain text) files containing spatial data expressed using the Cartesian coordinate system (x, y, and z). As they are usually simple lists of coordinates it is not possible to create a viable and consistently accurate PRONOM identification signature for these files at this time. There may be formats that use the .xyz extension that can be reliably identified and these should get their own PRONOM entries where appropriate.
Yes, this is a very common format. +1 for getting a PUID assigned to it. There is one other XYZ format I am aware of, but should be easy to make a signature for and have the two available. RPG Maker
