Last week, I spent some time working with the unstable analysis 3 environment and noticed that cdms2 is blocking the migration to Python 3.11 and later versions.
From what I’ve seen, the package is largely unmaintained, with the Conda feedstock receiving only minimal quick fixes.
Do you know who or what is currently relying on it? If its usage is minimal or non-critical, I’d recommend considering its removal to facilitate the migration.

Out of the top of my head I can only think of the APP4 as the tool that uses it. Any of these decisions however, should rest with you now, we don't have anymore time to work out what packages might be obsolete and what the community still wants to be available. As you will be maintaining it it's your call. It might also be more beneficial to open issues in your own repo as this one will be unmanaged soon
