running the command without arguments does what?

I'm not sure why this command is quiet when run without params. It might be meant to be called from other shell scripts and then test the exit code or something... If that's the case then adding params in a shell script like MOTD make more sense. The problem is a nood like me might run the command naked and it might do something surprising. That would be bad.

Recommendation... if run without params display some help or list some status ... see machinectl or networkctl.
