Keep address book when server is offline?

Hello,

I happened to take my Nextcloud instance offline for a bigger upgrade. After some time I got synchronisation error messages on my phone running DAVx5 of course, so I disabled the sync.

Later I recognized that all my contacts were gone on my phone, too.

This is especially bad, because I just realized, that the addressbook was not included in my Nextcloud files directory, i.e. I don't have a backup of it.

So I have 2 questions:

1. Maybe it would be nice to keep the last known addressbook (or calendar, etc.) when the sync is deactivated resp. the server goes offline?
2. Is it maybe possible, that there is somewhere some cache file I might be able to find on my phone with my address book?

The address book stays available when the server is offline or there are other sync errors. DAVx5 will only remove local contacts when they're removed on the server or if the local DAVx5 account is removed.

I don't know what happend in your case, so I can only ask whether this is reproducible behavior and for steps to reproduce. Otherwise we can unfortunately not do anything in this case.

I took the server offline, and disabled the DAVx5 account to remove the warning notifications. The contacts were gone.
Yesterday I removed the account as well.

Yes, I guess there is nothing I can do now anymore.

I opened my "Nextcloud" account in DAVx5 and moved all the knobs of the CalDAV and CardDAV entries to the left side.

Yes, it means "I don't want to have this collection on my phone anymore". Then the local address book is dropped at the next sync and all local information is removed. Otherwise the data would be forever on your device and there would be no possibility to delete them.

So if you just want to silence the notifications, you can do that in the notification settings.
