Nextcloud Calender: What does davx5 do for me? #841
-
I'm a little confused what's exactly the usecase of davx5 in the scope of CalDav. Maybe I'm just missing a puzzle piece which is not explained clearly enough for me. But as far as I see, the nextcloud calendar can just be used e.g. in the Onecalendar android app. Creating events works fine, they are synced/saved directly in nextcloud. Also the other way round for created events on the caldav server. (I'm using the stock Android 13 by Fairphone) It would be nice to import my old google calendar to nextcloud, but that also doesn't seem to be directly supported by davx5. So what is the usecase for davx5 for me with nextcloud calendar? |

Ok I tried another android calendar app (Etar) which only works by having Davx5 for syncing Caldav calendars in the background. With Etar all Calendars (my old Google calendar and my new Nextcloud calendar) are immediately shown and nicely synced by Davx5. Seemingly google calendar and Onecalendar are not using the Android native Calendar syncing possibilities which Davx5 implements but providing their own. Maybe the Main Webpage and the manual could go more into the "Why it's needed" before saying what and how it is doing. I was a little lost about the "Why?" here |

In newer versions of Google Calendar you have to allow third party provided calendars in the side menu. |
