Can DAVx⁵ delete contacts?

We're making our company addressbook available to staff via (read-only) CardDAV and Android users can sync to contacts via DAVx⁵. When an employee leaves the company, they are removed from our CardDAV feed but it doesn't appear that DAVx⁵ ever removes them from the contacts DB. Should that work? Is it an option?

If you delete the contact on the server DAVx5 should normally also remove it from the device when the next sync is happening. It should mirror the state of the servers address book. Can you reproduce this and send the steps you did so that we can take a look?

It is reproducible but I'm not really taking any "steps" as such other than waiting for a regular sync to happen. When a new entry is added to the CardDAV addressbook on the server, that entry eventually appears in my contacts app. But when an entry is deleted from the CardDAV addressbook then it remains in my contacts app.

However now that I look at it more closely I can see that some entries removed from the server recently have been removed from the contacts but some other entries removed around the same time have not.

I know that's not helpful but I'm not sure what next step I could take to investigate further.
