The mercury is working under 'set target' aiming, where it makes a list of targets in its attack range then picks the the 'top one' which usually is 'North West' target, ie top left.
If you set target all air units you get the same list mercury is aiming at and this becomes a problem when you have multiple mercuries side by side where they aim 'the wrong target' so to speak instead of the ones you probably want to aim at.
For example lets say 10 bombers in a ball are close to merc, flying over it and a new target arrives at 'top left', it will then aim that target instead.
I think anyone can see this isnt a good solution for targeting system. As mercury has such a big range it becomes very noticeable but if im not mistaken static flak does the exact same thing.
Expected Behaviour
Aim by proximity or some other smart target system (for example more aoe dmg = better target) that isnt 'set target'.
By having 'proximity aiming' you can at least spread the mercs to cause different targets to be chosen, and if you want stacked dmg you build mercs beside each other.
Actual Behaviour
'Set target' aiming, causes extreme overshooting issues at the exact same target no matter how spread out your mercs are.
At it always picks the 'top' of list it also always aims at the edge of target list instead of in the middle, this reduces its effectiveness at being an AA AOE unit.
