Orbeon Forms

GCPE hosts a service using Orbeon Forms for implementing forms within the gov.bc.ca website. This is a good solution for those that are asking for information in the context of their online gov.bc.ca website.

Why do we need other forms solutions?

The reason that the Common Forms Toolkit was created was to be able to have an application scaffold that could be use to quickly setup custom web forms applications. COMFORT hosts multiple custom forms within the single instance. It also showcases multiple integrations with other government common services, like email notifications, document generation, legal business name search.

The Common Hosted Forms Service is similar to Orbeon Forms, in that it is a form builder tool, but CHEFS differs from other form builders in a few key ways:

  • It's free
  • Smaller learning curve
    • It has a toggle setting that switches you from advanced to simple
    • Advanced is for web developers, simple is for the rest of us
  • It adds in custom form component which leverage other common services across government
    • Legal business name search (Orgbook - built by the Digital Trust Services)
    • Street address autocomplete (BC Address Geocoder) - coming soon
