I'm going to test it myself, but I would be happy see an "official" comment about it. Can anyone check?

My basic test, with no prior experience on other versions shows that it works well on comments, but doesn't work on new issue description. It opens the popup but an email doesn't arrive.

I'm using it on 3.x. I don't know how it functions in 2.x, but I would expect that after a comment is made that @mentions someone, it would visually stand out as a link (like in GitHub). Instead it just looks like plain text.
