Pre-Loading

Would it be possible to have pre-loading feature in SLB ? Like when viewing one SLB image, the other SLB images in a post or gallery like Nextgen are already downloading and getting cached in the user's browser cache. This would be only if they not already downloaded previously (already in browser cache).

Ditto for pre-loading. Thought RC4 might have had it back in. The previous 1.x was doing this just fine!

Is preloading going to be added to 2.0? I think it's a big omission to not have it and I will stay with 1.x until it is.

I find that Version 2 loads significantly slower, maybe the version is heavier ... so I am back to the last version before 2

@zephyr88 - I concur. If I could just disable the animation of the caption being revealed I would not need to move to v2.0

I don't know, have not tried it yet. I was experiencing slowness with v2.ORC4. I'll try v2 over the weekend.

It's definitely slower than 1.6, about the same as RC4 for me.

Thanks. Can you clarify what you mean by "slower" please? Are you referring to when a link is clicked and how long it takes for an image to be displayed in the lightbox or something else feels slow?

With the new themes also comes new animations with different timings than the old theme so that may cause it to feel slower.

In my case, I turned off animation and any delay. So my "slower" means slower to display in the lightbox. I was thinking of putting in the text "Please wait ... about 30 seconds to 1 minute", but decided to revert to old version, takes a shorter time for a big picture. Some of my pictures are big, like copies of a magazine article page, which has to be big so people can read it, clearly, on PC, MAC, or mobille device.

I also reverted back so I can use my other plugin to show social sharing on the expanded picture, see example above.

I'll raise another enhancement request to be able to put social sharing :)

For me - it's the lag when clicking on Next or Prev. The time taken to load a 200kb 1000px wide image with the circular spinner is not good. In 1.x images are preloaded so clicking on Next is instant

Image-Compressor Plug-In? Would that be a work-around for the load lag issue? **Since archetyped commented on this thread way back in (May 28, 2013), "Yep, preloading is planned for a future update," but, as sydsyd pointed out above, it's been seven years and Simple Lightbox still has this slow-load lag issue (when using arrows to move to next or previous image)... CAN ANYONE (especially Archedtyped support? )RECOMMEND some kind of Wordpress "Image Compressor" plug-in that might work with Simple Lightbox, and this speed up the next/previous image loading? THANKS

Compressing Images for Light Box ONLY?? I like to make the images on my sites available for full-size / full-resolution free drag & drop downloads. Ideally, I'd like to see the compressed images used in the light box (for faster loading) and the full-sized imaged grabbed, when user downloads (drags and drops, or even a download button) onto their device/folder/desktop, etc. These images shown here (using plain old WordPress gallery with Simple Light Box plug-in) are my mom's paintings and she likes to share them: http://www.fredileaf.org/
