A company called Edgio have gone bankrupt and the azureedge.net CDN will be going away on 15th January 2025.

Microsoft has a replacement CDN for some endpoints:

dotnet/core#9671

Searching the top 8k Python projects on PyPI, I found some instances in https://pypi.org/project/ansible/

They don't look so critical, but I thought I should let you know.

./ansible-11.1.0.tar.gz: ansible-11.1.0/ansible_collections/azure/azcollection/plugins/modules/azure_rm_afdendpoint_info.py: sample: contoso.azureedge.net
./ansible-11.1.0.tar.gz: ansible-11.1.0/ansible_collections/azure/azcollection/plugins/modules/azure_rm_cdnendpoint.py: sample: "myendpoint.azureedge.net"
./ansible-11.1.0.tar.gz: ansible-11.1.0/ansible_collections/community/dns/plugins/public_suffix_list.dat: azureedge.net

@hugovk thanks a lot for reporting this!

The first two matches are example return values of modules in the azure.azcollection collection; I've created an issue there (ansible-collections/azure#1796), the maintainers there then have to decide whether they want to keep the sample return values or change them.

The third match is part of the Public Suffix List (https://github.com/publicsuffix/list/) where the domain is still listed. We're simply vendoring that list, so there's nothing to do from our side.

I'm closing this issue since there is no direct effect on Ansible.
