How is passkit-generator helping your business? Help me obtaining an NFC Certificate to improve this project and PKVD #216
Comments
I just started using your library and it's working well so far. I am partnered with an attraction for tickets and passholder distribution (no actual revenue from it yet, but hopefully soon!). I will be looking into obtaining NFC certification in the future when I can get the business on board with getting combo NFC & barcode scanning terminals. I'd be happy to collaborate and provide testing feedback if I am granted access. |
Hi Alexander, Please contact me as we can work on a collaboration regarding NFC. Please send me a message on [email protected] |
Hi @qodifynl, can you contact me on Telegram? |

I guess Apple will never issue a certificate to you - at least not as long as you are developing this library. And even if you would ever be granted access to one officially, there would be a restrictive NDA. It is located on the wallet information site in the last box. I really love this library and we use it at https://edutix.de (no ad here - just showing the use case) for generating Wallet passes for graduation proms. The students love it as well as we did last year at our proms ourselves. |
Thank you @jannis6023! I gave the link a fast read. I wasn't aware of it. Some pages and documents appear to be very well hidden. Ofc, if these are the requirements (a.k.a. "the famous undisclosed requirements" - but I think there are more), I will never be able to obtain one (even if by signing an NDA). |
Hi everyone!
Passkit-generator has reached an astonishing level of popularity that I would have never imagined when I started it over 6 years ago. Right now it seems (might be wrong tho) the most linked and appreciated project for creating Apple Wallet passes on demand.
It has been cited on the following resources:
Furthermore, according to past insights I saw from stats of this repo and interactions,
passkit-generator
might be being used by several famous companies around the world (nothing official tho), like Flixbus, Audi, MOMA, Standford Alumni and many more I don't remember, as well as several little business all around the world. It has around 16.000 - 22.000 downloads per week (not unique, ofc) and over 800 🌟 on Github.
And I'd like to thank you for the trust you put in such project.
However, one thing have been really missing since the beginning of this project: a real support to NFC and VAS.
As far as this project supports adding NFC properties, I've never been able to generate an NFC pass in order to test it and give proper support.
I've already tried twice to ask to Apple for an NFC certificate or to be allowed to issue one, however I've always been denied for one.
Last time, I was asked for business related details like which is the nature of the business and how many years I've been active, the country and the merchants.
However, as you may know, this project has no business behind and lives solely on donations to cover the costs (Apple Developer Account and https://pkvd.app domain for Passkit Visual Designer), so I'm probably not elegible.
However, my idea is that by having enough statements from several companies about how passkit-generator is helping business around the world into issuing Apple Wallet passes, Apple could be convinced and make an exception as the sole purpose of this would be to be able to offer a service to you.
Last attempt of requesting the NFC certificate was about 2 months, so I'll wait for a year more before trying again.
If you could share a statement (with as much as disclosable details) about how this project helped you, that would be awesome. If this won't be enough, I'll still be happy to read these statements.
Thank you very much ❤️
Alexander
