Nutmeg, Cumen (optional), 6 cloves or half teaspoon ground cloves or same if ginger but not both, 2 cloves garlic chopped, tablespoon vinegar, mustard, bay leaves (remove at end), 1-3 onions chopped, peppercorns, no salt!
Optional potatoes, carrots, turnip/Swede, etc.
Put all ingredients in pot, cover with cold water, simmer for 2-6 hours, until soft to fork but not stringy.
