Font is hard to read on some monitors

On lower resolution monitors in particular (for example, my 1366 x 768 Windows laptop) the text on blog posts and elsewhere is very thin and hard to read; it sort of fades into the white background.

Here's a screenshot, although it doesn't give the full effect of viewing it on such a screen.
