Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Audio:

The ROG Ally has working audio on SteamOS Main and SteamOS Staging without any further work necessary. The ROG Ally X, however, needs upstream linux-firmware-20241017: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?h=20241017&id=4cbaca8d279c5b37dc999e9e6b9a5d8c3cbad2f5 and https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?h=20241017&id=e1bd5010f8403734ff9e2fc02b1f9477c3665142. There is also one kernel patch that correctly identifies the internal amplifier hardware: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/[email protected]/T/ that adds some additional audio clarity.

I saw that linux-firmware-neptune was tagged with a 20241205.1 tag, but it doesn't look like it's picked up upstream linux-firmware within that tag.

Hi,
I'm sorry for a bit of a off topic question but.... How do you even manage to install the OS on an Ally?
I tried everything that I could find on the web, but none of the subjects that I found manage to help me do so.
All I could do with the most recent 3.7 image is to get to the stage of the setup where you pick your language, time zone, and internet connection, and then it immediately fails with an error such as "Update Error" tried different connection types, ona. wifi 5ghz and 2.4ghz. a direct cable connection from the router, and a hotspot from 2 different phones, none of which has managed to get me past that.
So as I'm seeing your post here, I thought to myself... what am I doing wrong here...

I'll be honest: unless you're already familiar with SteamOS' developer tooling and can figure out how to install the OS and get your device into a somewhat usable state repeatedly after every update, you shouldn't be installing SteamOS on any other devices yet. I would highly suggest just waiting until Valve actually releases a Beta version that's compatible with other handhelds per https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/593110/view/529834914570306831
