Anki error when importing new notes #11

Hi, I'm a new user of the tool and very excited to try it. I'm having a problem importing new notes though. I'm just following the standard instructions for Maintaining a deck for a lecture course, but Anki throws an error.

Specifically, I've imported TopoCards.apkg, which works fine. I then downloaded TopoCards.tex and added one new note (very similar to the last note in the file, but with a new xplain ID). Then I tried to import the file into anki, and it throws an error. If I've understood the guide correctly in the Weekly Workflow, I should be able to add a new note like this and expect it to be added successfully to the specified deck. I've included an image of the import settings (not changed from default) and the error Anki throws.

I'm using the latest version of the add-on, and tried Anki 2.1.49 and Anki 2.1.48. Note that I've not changed anything else at all in Anki as far as I can tell. The preamble I didn't change (should I have? When I import TopoCards.apkg I think this should set it for me?) and no other settings.

This seems like a very standard / simple thing to do, so I'm very confused it doesn't work. I'd really like to use this tool, so any help would be much appreciated! :)

I haven't seen this error before.

  • In the import dialog, are you mapping the last field to "Tags"? (This is not visible in the screenshot you posted.)

  • Try deleting the deck you imported from TopoCards.apkg, and import TopoCards.tex directly, without any edits. Does that work? If so, please post the code that you added to TopoCards.tex so I can have a look.

  • If I understand the error message correctly, you are advised to look at the preview of (one of ?) your note(s) of type TopoNote, specifically at the preview of (some?) card 2. Have you done this? Does the preview look correct for notes that you imported from TopoCards.apkg? Does it look correct for cards you imported from TopoCards.tex?
