Perhaps the lowest-priority bug of all time, but:
If both players are present and P2 selects Novice with Merciful Beginner enabled, the stoplight and pad will use data from P1's steps.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Make sure Merciful Beginner is enabled in Options -> Arcade Options
  2. Start a game with Quickplay
  3. Pick any song with a Novice chart on P2 and any other chart on P1
---> The helper guides on the novice side use the step data from P1

This happens with both Quickplay and Standard with two players (but not with Standard if there is only one player, regardless of side).

MercifulBeginner is actually not about that, MercifulBeginner is about life drainage values for beginner mode
ShowBeginnerHelper is the setting you're probably thinking of, but yeah I think it's a source side bug, we'll look into it!
