Using Stellarium to polar align issue. #4084

In this repository we develop and discuss the desktop applications, exclusively. Phone, figure-8 wave etc indicate using Stellarium Mobile, which has its own support channel. Fundamentals to report there certainly include operating system, version, make/model of the phone etc. I can further guess that metals in the tripod/mount confuse magnetic field sensors. I generally wonder how accurate the orientation sensors in an average phone are, and will be surprised if it helps achieving more than an initial alignment. Polar aligning a telescope usually involves looking through the telescope to well-known stars and turning a few dedicated knobs, be it purely mechanical or computer assisted (goto). |

So I've been using Stellarium to polar align.
My issue is: I normally update orientation on phone with the normal figure 8 wave. Put the phone into a mount cradle and then zoom into the pole and start aligning the mount head.
My issue is, randomly, the position jumps and seems to lock onto another area.
I don't know if my initial alignment is correct, the new alignment is right or what, and often the position jumps again.
Is this my phone? The app? GPS sat switchover or what? Ideas?
